The outages all were reported simultaneously just after 1 p.m. One was centered north and west of Linden, another was south of Fenton, another was around Montrose and to the west.
The northeast side of Midland also was out of power.

There were smaller totals in surrounding counties.
Consumers issued a statement just before 3 p.m. saying the outages occurred while the utility was performing internal testing on its systems. An undisclosed problem came up with electric service lines in the region.
