Three University of Michigan students diagnosed with mumps

ANN ARBOR (WJRT) - (10/09/18) - A mumps scare is reported at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Campus health officials confirming that three students were recently diagnosed with the illness.

The mumps virus is best known for causing puffy cheeks and swollen jaw.

Symptoms show up between 12 to 25 days after exposure, so students just need to keep watch because it is contagious.

For those who are vaccinated, the side effects generally stay mild, but serious issues are possible.
