OAKLAND COUNTY (WJRT) (2/25/2019) - Traveling to Detroit could take longer beginning this week, when the second phase of a massive I-75 reconstruction project begins.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is planning to rebuild eight miles of the freeway between Coolidge and 13 Mile roads in Oakland County this year.
All traffic will move to the southbound lanes with two lanes open in each direction for the initial stage of the project.
MDOT said lane closures will start on Thursday after morning rush hour. By Friday, around-the-clock lane closures will be in place.
All of the work is weather permitting.
