WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- Donald Trump is officially the 45th president of the United States.

Trump took the oath of office on the west front of the US Capitol, telling the American people the moment belonged to them.

He started his presidency with the same message he used when he campaigned for office.

"Together, We Will Make America Strong Again. We Will Make America Wealthy Again. We Will Make America Proud Again. We Will Make America Safe Again. And, Yes, Together, We Will Make America Great,” said Trump.

President Trump told the nation he plans to transfer power from Washington back to the American People.

"What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people. January 20th 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again,” he said.

Trump promised to fight crime, gangs, drugs, and Islamic extremism.

He said wants to improve the education system, bring manufacturing jobs back to our country, and get Americans off welfare and back to work.

Trump disavowed racism saying he will work to heal our divisions.

He called out lawmakers drawing cheers from the crowd.

"We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action - constantly complaining but never doing anything about it. The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action,” said Trump.

Trump said our nation will be protected by our military, law enforcement, and God. He promised to never let Americans down.
