TUSCOLA COUNTY (WJRT) (11/06/2017) - Police are investigating whether a Tuscola County man brought to a hospital with a leg wound late Sunday was shot.
The Tuscola County Sheriff's Office said the 27-year-old male victim was heavily intoxicated when deputies met with him at Hills and Dales Hospital around 11 p.m. Sunday.
The victim told police he was letting his dog out at his residence on Little Road in Ellington Township sometime earlier Sunday when he heard a slight noise and felt an object penetrate into his leg. He then took out a knife and tried to carve the object out of his leg, but was not successful.
The victim put a belt around his leg as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. The pain was so bad that the victim told deputies he drank alcoholic beverages and smoked marijuana to try relieving it.
At some point, the victim's friends came over for a visit and transported him to the hospital.
The sheriff's office wasn't sure on Monday morning whether the victim indeed was shot. Deputies were waiting on further medical reports from the victim's doctor before determining how he was injured.
