OGEMAW COUNTY (WJRT) (10/10/2018) - A 30-year-veteran with the Michigan State Police passed away in his sleep Tuesday night.

Sgt. Pete McNamara, 54, served at the West Branch post area for more than 19 years of his 30 years in law enforcement.

His co-workers became concerned this morning when he did not arrive for work. They went to check on him and found his body in bed.

First Lt. Chris Luty, commander of the Tri Cities post, said McNamara was the foundation of the post.

"He was the go to guy not only for me but for the troopers,” Luty said.

Funeral arrangements had not been finalized Wednesday afternoon.
