Woman, 2 children critically injured in crash east of Caro

CARO (WJRT) (10/6/2017) - A woman and two children were badly hurt in a violent two-vehicle crash east of Caro early Thursday.

Around 6:15 a.m., a 41-year-old Deford woman was driving a Chevrolet Malibu east on Deckerville Road near Dodge Road with children ages 9 and 13 when she went onto the shoulder, overcorrected and came back onto the roadway nearly sideways.

A pickup truck driven west on Deckerville Road by a 25-year-old Decker woman with children ages 4, 5 and 9 slammed into the Malibu broadside.

The Tuscola County Sheriff's Office credited the county's weighmaster and several passersby for stopping to render aid until first responders arrived on the sceen.

All three people in the Malibu were critically injured, with one being airlifted from the scene by FlightCare to an area hospital. The four people in the pickup truck all received minor injuries.

The Tuscola County Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction Team responded and was still investigating the crash on Friday.
