HOLLY (WJRT) (11/09/2018) - For decades, volunteers with Wreaths Across America have given their time to decorate the headstones of veterans.
"It's very important to remember our veterans, to honor them and to teach our young about the sacrifices they've made for this country," said Deb Rakoczy, a volunteer with Wreaths Across America.
It costs a pretty penny to provide a wreath for every headstone in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Every year, the number of headstones increases, which means more wreaths must be ordered.
This year, volunteers said there is not enough money to pay for it all.
"We are at 2,000 remembrance wreaths and we would like to get 30,000 remembrance wreaths and that would give us full coverage," Rakoczy said.
The wreaths will placed on the headstones Dec. 15. By Dec. 3 all orders have to be in place.
