SAGINAW COUNTY (WJRT) - (03/31/15) - The Michigan Department of Corrections's food-service provider is once again in hot water.
ABC12 has learned an Aramark employee, who has since been fired, served food that had been thrown away to prisoners housed in Saginaw County. It happened in October at the Saginaw Correctional Facility, in Tittabawassee Township.
According to emails obtained by the liberal advocacy group Progress Michigan, an Aramark employee threw away left-over food before all the prisoners entered the chow hall. After realizing there were more inmates to feed, the employee retrieved and rinsed the food, reheated it in an oven and later served it.
Earlier this month, Aramark came under fire for allegations that it had served rodent-eaten food to inmates in July of last year.
