GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) - (07/01/15) - U.S. Congressman Dan Kildee is spending his time here at home exploring some of the hidden gems.

He's part of a group kayaking the Flint River.

The event was put on by the Flint River Watershed Coalition, and they say they think those who come out will be surprised by the experience.

"Once we get on the river, we won't cross another road for 2 and a half hours, we'll see a lot of great wildlife out there. And this is one of the first places where bald eagles returned to the Flint River watershed. So it's a great place for wildlife, it's a beautiful stretch, you get that up north experience right here in Genesee County," said Rebecca Fedewa, with the Flint River Watershed Coalition.

The coalition holds regular paddles. Check out our "Related Links" for more information.
