Neighbors react to Flint home explosion

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) - Dozens of residents were displaced Monday night after a home exploded on Hogarth Ave. in Flint.

One resident tells ABC12, they were knocked to the ground in their home which is four houses down from the initial blast.

"There was an explosion and it knocked me to the floor," said one man. "The lights went out and my wife is disabled, so I ran back to get her and she was okay. I walked out into the street and I just saw a huge inferno, it was a fire like I've never seen before."

Thankfully he and his wife are safe, but home did sustain damage.

"Plaster is broken, all the dishes everything on shelves and in cupboards is on the floor in broken glass," he said. "My garage-- it buckled the garage door. Just man-- massive massive explosion."

Homes are still closed off to residents in that area of Hogarth Ave. while they are assessed for safety.
