LANSING, Mich. (WJRT) - For the second consecutive year, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will deliver her State of the State address remotely.
Whitmer and Michigan House Speaker Jason Wentworth announced that the governor's annual address to the Legislature will take place Jan. 26. She will deliver the speech remotely rather than address a joint legislative session.
The speech will be broadcast throughout Michigan, so residents can tune in.
“The State of the State address is a tradition rooted in history," Whitmer said. "It is an opportunity for Michiganders to hear about the work of state government and see Republicans and Democrats come together to focus on the issues that will put Michigan families, communities, and small businesses first."
A starting time for Whitmer's State of the State speech will be determined later.
