The Biden administration on Tuesday quietly launched its website for Americans to request free at-home COVID-19 tests, a day before the site was scheduled to officially launch. The website,, now includes a link for Americans to order four tests per residential address, to be delivered by the Postal Service. It marks the latest step by President Joe Biden to address criticism of low inventory and long lines for testing during a nationwide surge in COVID-19 cases due to the omicron varian. A White House official website is “currently in its beta phase” and operating at a “limited capacity ahead of its official launch” on Wednesday.

Robert Durst, the New York real estate heir sentenced to life in prison for killing his best friend, has died. He was 78. Durst was convicted of the 2000 killing of Susan Berman in September. He was hospitalized with COVID-19 two days after his sentencing. Durst’s lawyer said he died in a state prison hospital facility in Stockton, California. Attorney Chip Lewis said it was from natural causes due to a number of health issues. Durst was facing trial in New York for the killing his wife, who disappeared in 1982. He was acquitted in 2003 in the death of a Texas man.
